Web-based counselling for engg. courses

HYDERABAD: Engineering counselling is in for a change from this academic year with the officials deciding to introduce web-based counselling for the second phase giving relief to the students and parents and also bringing down administrative hassles.

The APSCHE Chairman, K.C. Reddy said that every student attending first phase of counselling would get a scratch card containing a password using which the students can log onto the web and give new options if they wish to change the college and course opted during the first phase. Students can change their options several times before the cut-off date to be announced. The new procedure would rule out students attending counselling repeatedly.

Prof. Reddy said for the benefit of students in the rural areas the Council will open a helpdesk in every district centre where students would be guided on the operational part. Similar, procedure is being adopted for the ICET-2008 counselling starting from July 9. The first phase of engineering counselling would start from July 16 and the notification would be issued in a few days.
