Engineering students get tips on entrepreneurship

Hyderabad: Enlightening women students of engineering about latest technical developments, entrepreneurship and volunteerism marked the conclusion of the two-day Woman Student Congress 2008 held at Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University on Sunday. The event was organised by IEEE Hyderabad Section.

The event saw over 60-odd students benefit from key presentations given by experts from IT major IBM. The topics ranged from a technical session of “Green Computing- Innovation for Sustainability, importance of the service sector and its employment opportunities to and finally, Trends in Information Management.”

“Conserving energy through IT is what Green Computing is all about. Globally, the IT sector consumes about one to two per cent of electricity on a daily basis and this can be reduced through various means like building more efficient servers, making air conditioning more resourceful.” One of the best examples is the 3D water cooling chip, where in water is slotted in a technical way to keep the chip cool, thereby conserving energy,” said Suparna Bhattacharya, Senior Technical Staff Member from IBM.
