A degree to work in aviation sector

The Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST), Hyderabad, will offer three degree programmes in the field of aviation from August 2008. The programmes will be offered in collaboration with the Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology, New York, the U.S., P. Narasimha Reddy, SNIST’s Director, told a press conference here recently. Classes begin on August 7.

“The courses will help meet the demand for professional and qualified personnel to meet the aviation boom that is expected to grow in leaps and bounds in the country,” Vaughn’s Vice-President for Academic and Student Affairs for International Programmes Kalpana Jain said.

The four-year B.S. in Electronics Engineering Technology with Aviation course will include aircraft electronic systems, flight control systems and traffic alert / collision systems, etc. This is a regular engineering course (60 seats) that will take into account AIEEE scores in addition to the Plus Two marks. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics should have been compulsory subjects in school. Graduates can be ensured of entry-level technical and engineering positions in aircraft component and systems manufacturing companies. The four-year B.S. in Airline Management course (60 seats) will include airline operations and management, aviation law, safety, air traffic control, cargo movement, etc. For this programme, merit in Plus Two is the criterion for admission. The four-year B.S. in Airport Management course (60 seats) will encompass a broader area of civil aviation. It covers airport planning, operations and administration.
