Parents, students throng AIEEE workshop

WARANGAL: Hundreds of students along with their parents descended on this historic town to attend the AIEEE counselling that began at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) and the PG counselling of Kakatiya University on the campus here on Friday.

The campuses of NIT and Kakatiya University wore a festive look with the students who came with lots of dreams to make it big in life.

At the NIT, the officials made elaborate arrangements for the students and their parents. Scores of personnel were seen busily attending to the queries of students and helping them out in selecting the institute of their choice. On the first day of the counselling, the authorities called for students with one to 5,000 All India Ranks.

However, only 350 students attended the counselling which means that those attending the counselling on second stand to get admission in a good institute of their choice.
According to officials, there were about 1,025 students from Andhra Pradesh who secured All India AIEEE rank below 5,000.

Arrangements

The officials made fool-proof arrangements to avoid any complaint. NIT director Prof. Y. V. Rao went round inspecting the counselling programme.

Some of the students and parents were seen complaining about the OBC reservation. Those who did not tick at OBC reservation while filling up the examination form were not allowed to claim the reservation.

But, the parents argued that the OBC reservation was recent decision and they should be allowed to claim. The officials clarified that the decision on such important matters were taken at New Delhi and are helpless.

Meanwhile, yet another batch of graduates anxiously waiting to enter the portals of University aspiring to pursue post graduation turned up for the counselling for admission into various PG courses in the Colleges under the jurisdiction of Kakatiya University began on Friday morning.
Counselling for admission into M.Sc. Zoology, M.Com. M.F.A. M.A. Economics were conducted at Admissions Directorate, Physics Building and Humanities building respectively.

Counseling would conclude on July 17 with Chemistry subject. Counselling to the students is being done online and bank counter was opened for payment of fee immediately after admission, said Director Prof. P. Indrasena Reddy.

In charge Vice-Chancellor and Registrar Prof. N. Satyanarayana personally visited the counseling centres.
