Symbiosis International University gets 40 acres

Hyderabad, June 11: The state on Wednesday alloted 40 acres to Symbiosis International University at Mamidipalli village on city outskirts for setting up their campus centre. The state gave away land at a low price of Rs 50,000 per acre. The revenue principal secretary, Mr M. Samuel, issued orders in this regard.
The university was also asked to pay a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh per acre to the SC/ST assignees from whom the government resumed land. The chief commissioner of land administration in February 2008 recommended that Symbiosis should be alloted land on payment of market value of Rs 10 lakh per acre. It also made it clear that the institute should be asked to pay the ex-gratia of Rs 1.5 lakh per acre.
