Karimnagar, June 21: A total of 284 meritorious students of the district who excelled in the SSC public examinations enrolled their names for admission into the six-year integrated IIIT course of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies at different counselling sessions held division-wise in the district on Saturday.
Of the total 294 students called for the counselling, a total of 284 students turned up and registered their names in the counselling sessions held in Karimnagar, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Manthani and Sircilla divisions.
A highest number of 102 students appeared in Karimnagar revenue division-level counselling held at the collectorate in the district headquarters. The students mostly from the poor and rural based families enthusiastically participated in the counselling to realise their dreams to pursue the prestigious course.
The Karimnagar-based Dhangarwadi government high school student and son of a cycle mechanic Md Yasar Ahmed who was selected for admission into the course by virtue of his merit in the SSC public examinations also participated in the counselling held in city.
The poor boy opted Basara to study the IIIT course with a ray of hope on the support of philanthropists to pay the prescribed fee for OC category candidates for pursuing his dream course.
Meanwhile, the district education officer, Mr N. Rameshwar Raju, said that the counselling was held in teleconference mode and the participants were issued identity numbers. The Hyderabad-based central office will send further communiqué regarding the date of admissions directly to the candidates, Mr Rameshwar Raju said.
