Anantapur, June 21: The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) chairman, Mr K.C. Reddy, said students would get jobs if they learned basic computer skills along with their education. He inaugurated the Career Awareness and Recruitment Drive (CARD) programme at the Sri Krishnadevaraya University here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Reddy said the CARD programme was started to provide jobs to lakhs of graduates. He said the programme was conducted in all universities and awareness was created among students about the skills required to get jobs. The APSCHE chairman said students should get good command over English and learn communication skills and computer knowledge. He said the skills would help them get jobs immediately after graduation. Mr Reddy said the rural youth were better in technical and academic skills compared to the urban youth.
The APSCHE secretary, Mr Christopher, said the CARD programme was started to provide employment opportunities to the youth. The Sri Krishnadevaraya University vice-chancellor, Mr Athota Rama Rao, presided over the meeting. A total of 1,638 youth from Anantapur and Kurnool districts took part in the CARD programme. Representatives of several companies took bio-datas from the youth.
In the present CARD programme, 281 youth got jobs. The university officials expressed happiness as a large number of youth got jobs in the programme.
