IT Park work in full swing

Vijayawada June 26: The construction of Information Technology Park at Gannavaram is going on full scale. Out of five towers, the first tower will be completed by December this year. The project is taking shape as promised by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, while laying foundation stone on May 6, 2006. “We will set up an IT park here on the lines of hitech city at Gachchibowli in Hyderabad with Rs 350 crore,” he said on that day.
APIIC and L&T, the construction giants are jointly taking up the project. In the initial stages the work had been delayed due to getting clearances from airport authority of India as the project site is close to Gannnavaram airport. According to the design of the IT park, L&T is constructing five towers. The first tower sprang in 1.92 lakh square feet, will be completed by year-end. The chief operating officer of L&T, Mr Udaya Bhaskar, said each tower will take one year to complete. In five years, we will finish the entire project. The government wants to provide employment to 10,000 people in five years by giving 2,000 jobs. A total of 30 acres was allotted to the IT park and five towers will be constructed in 25 acres. “We will construct integrated township in the remaining five acres with other facilities like swimming pool, shopping mall, club house etc,” Mr Udaya Bhaskar said. The APIIC has sanctioned Rs 2.45 crore to lay 120-feet road from the IT park to national highway.
