APPSC stalls job process

Hyderabad, June 29: More than 1,000 posts sanctioned by the state government in various departments during the last two years have not been filled up as the recruitment process is moving at a slow pace. The blame game between the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and state officials has become a curse for thousands of unemployed graduates.
While the APPSC blames the departments for not providing details on the number of vacancies, the departments argue that lack of clarity on the issue was causing the delay. The negligence of officials can be seen from the fact that in some cases the APPSC is unaware of the exam pattern and the syllabus for recruitment, while in others it has no clue of the ‘eligibility norms’ for issuing notifications.
“There is little we can do on this issue. The delay is not due to APPSC but because of the delay in getting information from departments on the vacancies, the pattern of exam and syllabus,” said Mr Y Venkat Rami Reddy, chairman, APPSC. “All these factors are leading to the delay in issuing notifications,” he added. He said though in some cases notifications were issued and written examination and interviews conducted, the APPSC was unable to release the final list as there was no clarity on local and non-local posts as required under the Telengana rules.
