Entrants to get web counselling

Hyderabad, June 22: For the first time, web-based counselling for admissions into MBA, MCA and BEd courses in the state will be introduced from July . Students can sit at home and select the college of their choice depending on their ranks. They can utilise this unique system through the Internet, which will save them time and money.
Students coming from far-off places to Hyderabad, where counselling centres are currently located, will benefit the most. However, they need to visit counselling centres once for verification of original certificates and payment of fee. Currently, the students are forced to visit counselling centres time and again, if they wish to change colleges, as new colleges are getting included in the midst of counselling.
Currently, there are eight counselling centres located at Hyderabad, Warangal, Guntur, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Kadapa in various universities. “In the new system, students will be given a scratch card in which a password will be provided. With that, they will have access to web-based counselling,” said Mr D.N. Reddy, convenor, Icet. “The students should provide details like hall ticket number and rank. They can select their priority list of colleges, where up to 100 options would be given,” added Mr Reddy.
