The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited applications for the All India Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental (AIPMT- 2009) examination for admissions to 15 per cent seats in MBBS and BDS courses in the medical and dental colleges run by the State and Central governments, local-self governments and so on in the country (except in Andhra Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir).
The test will be held in two stages. The preliminary test, of three hours’ duration, will be held on April 5, 2009 across the country.
The test is of objective type and will cover 200 questions from physics, chemistry and biology.
Those who qualify in the preliminary test will be eligible to appear for the subjective type final test consisting of two papers, which will be held on May 10, 2009. Paper I will cover questions in physics and chemistry and paper II will cover questions in biology (botany and zoology). Each paper will be of two hours’ duration.
Eligibility
Those who have passed Plus Two or equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and biology with at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate and those who are appearing for Plus Two examination in 2009 are eligible to apply.
Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes categories require at least 40 per cent marks in the qualifying examination.
Candidates should not be above 25 years as on December 31, 2009.
Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes categories will be eligible for relaxation in age by five years (Up to 30 years).
Graduates who have studied physics, chemistry and biology (botany and zoology) and have at least 50 per cent marks are also eligible to apply, provided they have passed Plus Two with physics, chemistry and biology with at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate.

Applications can be submitted offline and online. Application form and information bulletin can be obtained from select branches of Canara Bank on payment of Rs.600 (Rs.350 for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) till December 1, 2008.

In Kerala, application forms will be available at Canara Bank branches at Kottayam (KK Road); Koyilandy (Main Road); Thiruvananthapuram (Chalai, Ibrahim building; PTP Nagar; MG Road, Devaswam Board Building;); Ernakulam (Shanmugam Road); Kozhikode (Cherooty Road); Thrissur (Round South); Kollam (Thamarakulam); and Palakkad (Market Road).
To submit applications online, visit the web site www.aipmt.nic.in. Online applications can be submitted till 5 p.m. on December 1, 2008.
Print outs of the completed application should be sent to the Deputy Secretary (AIPMT), Central Board of Secondary Education, Shiksha Kendra- 2 , Community Centre, Preet Vihar, Delhi – 110 301 by registered post. The fee of Rs.600 (Rs.350 for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) should be remitted through a demand draft drawn in favour of the Secretary CBSE, Delhi, from any nationalised bank and payable at Delhi.
The last date for the receipt of completed applications is December 4, 2008.
