The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Regional Office at New Delhi has announced new scholarships for research programmes for Indian students and research scholars.
Good governance
The new programme, Master’s Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance (PPGG), is designed to academically qualify future leaders in politics, law, economics and administration according to the principles of good governance and to prepare them in a praxis-oriented course for their professional life.
The programme offers graduates with a first class university degree, the chance to obtain a master’s degree in disciplines that are of special relevance to the social, political and economic development of their home country. The deadline for this scholarship is November 15, 2008.
Research Fellowships
DLR - DAAD Research Fellowships is a new programme implemented by the DLR (national research centre for aeronautics and space) and the DAAD.
This fellowship offers outstanding scientists and researchers the opportunity to conduct special research at the institutes of the DLR in Germany. These fellowships are defined and awarded on an individual basis.
Each Fellowship announcement will indicate the specific qualification requirements and terms of the visit. The current offers are published under ‘DLR-DAAD Fellowships - Current Offers’ at http://www.daad.de/deutschland/foerderung/ausschreibungen/09009.de.html . Offer Nos. 13 and 27 are specifically for India. Application deadline is Nobember 30, 2008.
DAAD-Siemens Research Grants
Siemens AG and the DAAD aim to give young and early-stage researchers who are particularly qualified in specific subject areas and who come from select universities in India the opportunity to spend a longer period of time doing research within the scope of international projects.
The individual project has to be completed with a doctorate in Germany. It will be supervised by scientists working at universities in Germany in close cooperation with scientists working for Siemens Corporate Technology. Application deadline is November 30, 2008.
Student internships
DAAD Internships in science, technology and engineering provides bachelor-students between their third and fourth years with the opportunity to spend a minimum of two months and a maximum of three months working with German doctoral students, scientists or professors on research projects at institutions of higher education and research institutes in Germany. This offer is open to students from a list of specified universities/colleges in India. (check the DAAD website for the list). The students shall locate a German host by themselves and get an invitation for the internship period. Candidates must be full-time students at recognised Indian universities, have above average marks. The application deadline is November 30.
