All about executive MBA programme

MBA in India is available as full-time programmes, part-time programmes, two-year programmes, one /one-and-a-half-year executive programmes and several specialisations. We have universities offering courses as MBA and executive MBA, and premier institutes like SP Jain Institute of Management and Research offering courses as Post Graduate Diploma in Management and Executive Management Programmes.

We also have universities like TASMAC that award degrees of universities abroad. But, the academic content delivered by all courses is almost the same. Any MBA programme aims at equipping the students with skills required to succeed in the corporate world. In a typical two-year course, the first year exposes the student to the different functional areas. And the second year allows the student to choose an area of specialisation. On the other hand, one-year programmes accelerate the curriculum taking advantage of the fact that students who enrol for these courses have prior work experience. Their experience would have already acquainted them with the several aspects of business administration, made them aware of their strengths, weaknesses and areas to improve. One-year executive MBAs or EMBAs are for professionals who need the degree to step ahead in their careers and wish to hone their skills. EMBA is usually offered in part-time mode, as the students would be continuing to work.

Now that you have registered for EMBA in distance mode, make sure that you attend all the contact classes. Try to discuss on various academic topics with your classmates. Most of all, relate your course content and work. Apply what you learn to your work and use your work to grasp better, the content of your course. The degree awarded by the university will be Executive MBA.
