UoH stakes claim for holding global meet

HYDERABAD: University of Hyderabad is staking claim to organise the prestigious International Conference on Ion Beam Modification of Materials (IBMM) in 2010. The UoH is being supported by the Departments of Science and Technology and the Atomic Energy in this effort.

The proposal will be presented by Prof A.P. Pathak of the University who is attending the 16th International Conference – IBMM-2008 at Dresden, Germany.

He would also be presenting three research papers on nano and bio-materials at the six-day IBMM-2008 at Dresden starting on August 31.

Clearance

The efforts to get clearance for the university are supported by Institute of Physics (IoP) Bhubaneshwar, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) Kalpakkam and the Bhaba Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai.

The University had earlier successfully organised an International Conference on Ion Beam Analysis (IBA) in 2007, proceedings of which were published by Elsevier Science publishers.
Prof. Pathak will also be delivering a talk at the second international meeting on Radiation Effects in Matter (REM2) at Crete in Greece during September.

He would also be visiting the Institute of Electronic Materials Warsaw (ITME) in Poland under the Indo-Polish Scientific Cooperation this month for discussions on synthesis and modification of nanocrystals.
