Specialised PG courses from London-based institute

The London-based British Institute of Technology and Ecommerce is launching several specialised master’s degree programmes from this academic year.

Business studies

With a number of engineers opting for management training, the institute has decided to start a new MBA degree programme in Engineering Management. New specialisations have also been added to the existing MBA in Innovative Management: supply chain management, customer relations management, marketing and communication, information technology management, business process re-engineering and strategic management.

Students applying for these programmes should ideally have two years of work experience. However, fresh graduates can also apply, if they are willing to do a four-month foundation course before the programme begins.

Relevant science

The institute is also introducing several new M.Sc degree programmes in cutting edge sciences. The new specialisations are M.Sc in nanotechnology, biotechnology, forensics, e-security, e-commerce, aeronautical technology and mobile communications. Graduates with an undergraduate degree in the relevant sciences are free to apply.

More intake

The institute is looking to increasing its intake this year by accepting 200 new students from India. Director Mohammed Farmer will be conducting interviews, offering spot admissions and awarding scholarships at the University of Madras on August 26. Please contact Mohammed Ghani at 044 – 25362233 / 25382678 for more details.

While the tuition fee for the programme is £10,000, all students who have scored at least 55 per cent in their undergraduate degree are eligible to apply for the Abdul Kalam scholarships which will reduce the fee by about 30 per cent.

The institute is organising a roadshow in five Indian cities between August 21 and 28, meeting up with top Indian companies looking for investment from the United Kingdom.

It will also host the World High Tech Forum in the U.K. on October 7 and 8, which Union Minister for Telecommunications A. Raja is expected to address.
