IIT -JEE 2008 Test Results

The results of IIT-JEE 2008 will be announced at 8 am on Friday. The qualified candidates are eligible for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and reputed engineering colleges in the country. About 50,000 candidates from the state appeared for IIT-JEE, conducted by IIT-Roorkee on April 13.
“Qualifying candidates will be informed by post and called for identity verification in order of their national merit. About 3.2 lakh students across the country are competing for 4,600 seats in IITs this year,” Prof. N. M. Bandari, chairman, JEE-2008, IIT-Roorkee, told this newspaper. He said JEE was held for admission to undergraduate engineering courses in seven IITs in Delhi, Mumbai, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai and Roorkee. Also, admissions to Indian School of Mines University, Dhanbad, and Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU), will be made on the basis of marks secured in JEE. This year, three new IITs in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan are all set to start operations.
